Posmo
Nuez, Iván de la
In January 2015, Iván de la Nuez was issued his death certificate in Havana, from the Obituary Services of a funeral home. An unusual fact, attributed to a "bureaucratic error". After the initial shock - how can one leave the country being dead, what sick mind is capable of concocting such a joke, how to legally "return" to life? -, he finally assumed that this mortuary document was a good passport to cross the world's problems and get out of them as unscathed as possible. Once you're dead, what else can happen to you? This book, from the SOS at the beginning to the SMS at the end, is the result of that decision. Some memories from beyond the grave in which the author radicalizes his sense of anticipation and his particular style when it comes to addressing and naming things. That is why here the term "postmo" refers to "post mortem" and not to "postmodern", a definition that in these pages only appears within the unmitigated criticism of a debate that the author considers anachronistic and typical of little imagination. of cultural wars anchored in the past. This is a spectral tour that goes from personal experiences to the cultural effects of a pandemic or the war in Ukraine, ending with that statute that De la Nuez calls the New Normal Order. Since the explosion caused by that advanced death, Posmo is a revenge written with the freedom that can only be achieved, in this world, by those who are already in the other.
