Una hojarasca de cadáveres
crónica criminal de la España posfranquista
Sánchez Soler, Mariano
For years I traveled through Spain following a trail of blood. It was my job. There are many parricides, the murders that I have described in chronicles and reports. I know how difficult it can be to sit next to the dead when the living, the aggressors, capture our interest and our fear. Some crimes have haunted me throughout my existence. I immersed myself in them as an investigative journalist, unaware of what they were going to imply in my professional and personal reality. Decades have passed since that post-Franco Spain and many of these dead continue to accompany me. I continue to be an expert in the murder of Yolanda González, of the Marquises of Urquijo, in the disappearance of El Nani, in the parricide of Dulce Neus, in the infanticide of Paquito Reyes, in the racist attack against Lucrecia Pérez, in the sect mountaineering Edelweiss... The human heart is a mystery and the brain is hell. Those of us who write about these matters can only be humanists by dint of knowing so much horror up close. This book takes one last visit to true crimes and some bloody landscapes. They are the most important in my career as a journalist and now, as I approach an unsettling age, I need to write them down and return them to this savage world in order to somehow settle them, if not on paper, at least in the consciousness of knowing. that I have done everything possible to give voice to these dead so that, perhaps, they may rest in peace.
