Ulcis

Xosé Fernández Ferreiro began drawing the character of "Ulcis" between 1958 and 1963 and worked on it throughout his life. That literary universe aroused the admiration of his colleagues Brais Pinto, especially that of Reimundo Patiño and X. L. Méndez Ferrín, who says on the threshold of this book: "It was Fernández Ferreiro that we were waiting with thirst." These surreal tales penetrate the deepest and darkest essence of the human being, where myths and legends, nightmares and violence are born, where the archetypes of an inferior world are revealed, situated beyond consciousness, but inhabiting us and, sometimes it possesses us. That is the enormous and great strength of "Ulcis", the last book by the author of Nogueira de Ramuín, a book in which he worked until the last days of his life and which ended in the autumn of 2015. Now, Xerais posthumously publishes this book magnificent and singular, by the hand of Francisco Fernández Naval, who also provides the epilogue, and with a threshold by XL Méndez Ferrín.
