Sin ataduras
la libertad en la época de los hechos alternativos
Zabala, Santiago
More and more often politicians, philosophers and intellectuals proclaim themselves depositaries of the truth. The reality they describe, presented as objective, clear, absolute, is projected into a new technological, social and political order supported by surveillance capitalism and right-wing populism, and summed up in an overwhelming slogan: all alterity, all deviation , all residual elements must be reabsorbed and redirected within the norm, to the point that critical thinking is discouraged, and even censored or drowned in a feeling of constant diffuse threat. This explains why the greatest of the emergencies of our time is the absence of emergencies: real threats (such as the dismantling of the welfare state, economic inequality or climate change), in fact, remain on the margins of the public debate, copious due to the growing space occupied by fears manufactured ad hoc by certain politicians and the media. How, then, to subvert this suffocating order? Identifying the absent emergencies through a thought detached from the dominant schemes. The absence of ties -or, in other words, daring with new interpretations of reality- is today more than ever an act of political resistance: the only one, perhaps, that allows us to reconquer and defend our spaces of freedom.
