In rural Iraq, a young woman finds herself facing a sealed fate. After a love affair outside of marriage, he dies under the bombs and she is discovered pregnant. As her ruthless social machinery tightens around her, members of her family emerge one by one, in relentless succession, under the gaze of the Tigris River and to the echo of the voice of the Mesopotamian hero Gilgamesh.
