Los diarios de La anguila
Bonet, Paula
In the summer of 2018, a series of events pushes Paula Bonet to flee alone in search of a place to take refuge. She provided - as is her custom - with a pencil, paints and a notebook with black covers, she arrives in Santiago de Chile, the city that welcomed her more than twenty years ago and offered her relief. Paula travels alone and, while she walks, she paints the world. Painting and writing are confused as the material that results in the pages of her notebook is confused: places, encounters, readings, thoughts and reflections; the heroes and heroines that make up her imaginary and the demons that persecute her; moments of serenity and contemplation, followed by the explosion of the most stark feelings... In that incessant effervescent transit, she portrays the looks of the characters she comes across, a collective portrait that also becomes the outline of the your own. In these diaries, the reader finds himself before the unique possibility of living intimately the search for a woman, her desire to fix what she sees, what she feels and what she discovers so as not to forget it. A painter-writer-author who exposes herself -in an act of unusual honesty- with courage, and who denounces without fear, relentlessly and relentlessly, aware of some added difficulties to be in an active and full way: "Women we can't melt like fish in water. We walk not to see, but to be seen. That's why I paint and write The Eel. That's why I draw and write these diaries, because looking is a difficult act".
