This little book about books, or about what books inspire to build bridges with readers, is just a very small sample of what design can contribute to reading. In the intense interview that gives this volume its title, Reading books, designing covers, Juan Cruz, a teacher of conversationalists and editors, tries to put Manuel Estrada on the ropes, to extract secrets, confidences, certainties from him. But it all comes back to the image, to reading in images and to the celebration of a lucky encounter: the symbiosis between the covers and the works that the covers cover and offer to the reader, the miracle of the journey from one language to another and a mutual enrichment. After some brief introductory texts in the first part, the second is dedicated to the interview -rather a long conversation- between Manuel Estrada and Juan Cruz; In the third, a game is proposed between the sketches that preceded the covers, Manuel Estrada's comments on those same sketches, the covers to which they gave rise and a brief excerpt where we listen, together with the voice of Estrada, the voice of The texts. Finally, the volume closes with a large section where selected covers are reproduced, among those that Manuel Estrada considers to be the most successful and that will also have been seen for a few months in the exhibition organized at the "Joaquín Leguina" Provincial Library of Madrid and that has served as a point starting point for this book.
