Las palabras vivas
la poesía y la poética de José Hierro
Lorenzo Oliván
José Hierro is one of the Spanish poets of the 20th century with a more personal worldview. Almost everything in his poetry is directly or indirectly linked to movement, to dynamism. That is why his rhythmic approach acquires so much complexity and that is also the root of the fact that music and the figures linked to it constitute key references in his poetry. In Hierro, rhythm and life always go hand in hand. We are undoubtedly before a poet who made conflict a motor of expression, through which he pumped energy to all levels of language: the phonic, the syntactic and the semantic. The image of rhythm as the blood of the poem, the scope of which is investigated in this essay, helps to understand what the vault key of this poetic universe consists of, what importance "living words" have.
