La Reforma pendiente
López Sáez, Jesús
This book has its origin, not in a simple desk, but in the groove of a personal and community history centered on the search for the lost community of the Acts of the Apostles. In Rome, after the Council, there was a flourishing of diverse communities. In the midst of the profound crisis of the Church that was emerging at that time, it was necessary to return to the sources, to the Bible, to the experience of the first Christian communities. But the difficulties were enormous. It was necessary to approach by successive approximations. And for many, "the time had not yet come." We have been praying for the unity of the Churches for more than a hundred years. There has also been dialogue and joint statements have been made. But that's not enough. Something else is needed. It is a matter of renovation and reform. The Second Vatican Council proposed "to promote everything that can contribute to the union of those who believe in Jesus Christ". The restoration of unity is one of its "main purposes." More than fifty years have passed and it has not been achieved. Is Christian unity impossible? Can't get it on a large scale? Can the great Christian Churches be renewed and reformed? Can only one remainder do it? Is unity possible without pending reform? Some moments were especially difficult. For example, in 1998 (going back to the sources) we crossed the dogmatic mountain range of the 4th and 5th centuries to arrive at the confession of faith of Peter, Paul, John, and Jesus of Nazareth. In general, the great Christian denominations do not pass that mountain range. Tradition must be reviewed in the light of Scripture.
