La presonera
Proust, Marcel
Few reads are as transformative as In Search of Lost Time. Throughout its seven volumes, we follow the Narrator from his childhood, in Swann's Corner, to maturity, in El temps recobrad; a path of discovery and growth towards the realization of the writer's vocation. Time, love, jealousy, art, the individual versus society, death... It is a total work that contains a philosophy in itself and still challenges us today with all its force creative, now in the translation - accurate and respectful of the author's sinuous style - by Valèria Gaillard. In La presonera, the protagonist confines Albertine to his house and reproduces an obsessive relationship, crossed by jealousy as a mirror of that of Swann and Odette. Thus, he oscillates between the boredom caused by the girl and the anguish of not being able to possess her completely. The volume also contains famous passages such as the one about the cries of the street in Paris that the protagonist hears, or the death of the writer Bergotte, electrocuted while looking at a painting by Vermeer.
