It is December in Lipowo. The air is impregnated with the smell of pine and its inhabitants prepare for a cold winter. There is only one thing that makes the peace of the place rare: in a few days, the person responsible for the death of Inspector Daniel Podgórski's father will return to the town. For fifteen years no one has dared to utter his name. As if that were not enough, a couple who have traveled from Sweden threaten a villager for a reason that nobody knows. Daniel tries to keep the situation under control, but when someone starts a fire, like fifteen years ago, the past returns, without mercy. To further complicate matters, a disturbing find is made in the woods, in what decades ago was the settlement of a cult.
