La guerra que perdimos

La guerra que perdimos

III Premio Anagrama/UANL de Crónica Sergio González Rodríguez

Álvarez, Juan Miguel

"Among the eleven chronicles that make up this book, the oldest is dated 2014 and the most recent in 2021. A period that covers the years immediately before and after the signing of the Peace Agreement. Several narrate episodes that occurred long before the ruling some were capable of sitting down the most orthodox and stagnant guerrilla commanders at a negotiating table. Others advance on people whose lives were cut across by that agreement. All of them can be read as different ways of being or falling victim in this war, in the midst of the specific circumstances of each territory. This is not a book about war. It is not even a book about who participated in it. It would have to be, rather, the intimate story of a reporter who stumbles at every crossroads with splinters and scars, like someone who picks up broken pieces in every distant place of the national geography to try to put together something that resembles an explanation. What happened to the Colombians? Perhaps it is premature to offer answers, but there are the traces, the vestiges of a holocaust where the limits, the sides, the authentic motivations are blurred. War is what happens elsewhere and in another time: that past that is still conjugated in the present.
