La civilización no era esto
IV Premio ESPASAesPOESÍA
Monzón, Aitana
Through the poetic patchworks and the contemplative monologue of its protagonist, La civilización no era esto poses a search for beauty, which turns out to be loss, corruption or hollowness. She does it through "an intimate act between the poetic voice, which in this case is a character, and its environment, a mythical, poetic and almost forgotten city", in the words of Aitana Monzón. A clear tribute to The Alexandria Quartet, by Lawrence Durrell, based on the nomadic memory of the individual in the face of the embers of the past. Divided into five acts, following a theatrical structure, the work exhibits a clear hybridity of genres with which it achieves the deep approach of the voice, the dynamism of the bodies and the musicality of the word.
