Hijos de la adversidad
cómo fortalecer tu salud a través de hábitos ancestrales
Valenzuela, Antonio
Obesity, hypertension, diabetes, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, back problems and a long etcetera are just a few examples of chronic pathologies that are part of the daily life of too many people, robbing them of years of life, but above all of good life . And what is the response of conventional medicine to this epidemic of diseases? Treat the symptoms and not the causes, with what keeps us alive... and sick. When we look for culprits in this situation, it is tempting to think about our genetics. That our genes determine our destiny, exempts us from responsibility for what happens to us. However, today we know that the conflict between our lifestyle and what our genes expect is what makes us sick. These were forged in adversity, generating protective responses against environmental challenges such as cold, heat or involuntary fasting due to lack of food. These answers are what turned our ancestors into people of privileged health. However, today we spend marathon days sitting down, continually stressed, inundated with food that makes us fat but does not feed us, and all under the promise of a happiness that never comes. The solution does not lie in a "miracle pill", but in incorporating the stimuli to which our genes are prepared to respond in our daily lives, since this has been the way of life that we have followed for hundreds of thousands of years. It is what is called hormesis and is based on the old popular wisdom of "what does not kill you, makes you stronger". If we add to all this reconnecting with nature, a diet based on real food or ancient breathing techniques... you will take your health and well-being to a higher level.
