The land where the language of half the planet was born awaits the visitor with 9 World Heritage Sites, more than 400 castles, 352 museums, 33 protected natural spaces, 13 Denominations of Origin and 61 figures of Quality in gastronomy. The great Central Plateau enjoys enormous natural contrasts, between the Cantabrian mountain range, the mountains of León, the Central and Iberian systems. The high peaks of the Picos de Europa and the Montaña Palentina make fun of that wide and long Castilla. Rivers such as the Ebro, the Duero, the Tormes and the Duratón have ripped through these ocher and golden lands of grapes and cereals, forming deep canyons and gorges.
