En busca del tiempo en que vivimos

fragmentos del hombre moderno

Luri Medrano, Gregorio

At every historical moment there is a tension between the old that does not resign itself to disappear and the new that does not decide to succeed. Every historical present is a propitious interregnum for monstrous phenomena that only those who come after will know if they were ghostly apparitions that dissolved without leaving a trace, heralds of the future, premature births or revived dead. Our monster today is the feeling, so widespread, that we live in a possible end of time. The disturbing presence of this wounded hope allows us to think that today's man has been able to get tired of himself and his insolent domination of the Earth. The philosopher and teacher Gregorio Luri uses our anguishing questions about the limits of the human world as reactive tests to diagnose the sign of the time in which we live. Because, although the question of human limits is as old as religion, it had remained latent until a few decades ago. But nowadays it has reached such an extraordinary latency that it floods the media, nullifying any possibility of complacency. That the man is disoriented is not news; that he is afraid of the future, either. But for him to be afraid of himself because he sees himself as the barbarian who lurks in the limes of his soul is new. And it is highly worrying news, especially since that fear has reached schools...
