El último atardecer
Martín Garzo, Gustavo
María, a young doctor, arrives in a town in Castilla to take charge of her first assignment. She has chosen that town because of a movie, The Lord of War, that she watched with her father when she was a teenager and that she has not been able to forget ever since. In it, a Norman knight becomes feudal lord of strange lands inhabited by semi-savage men, and falls madly in love with a mysterious maiden for whom he ends up losing power and honor. From the very moment of her arrival in that town, María will attend, amazed, how the things that begin to happen to her have a mysterious relationship with what the protagonists of that film lived. And so there will also be a lagoon there, an injured body, strange visitors at night and above all an enigmatic young man for whom she will conceive an unexpected and irrepressible passion. The Last Sunset is a book about love passion. Passion as dazzle and spell, as an experience that allows us to recover the union with the world and the powers of nature; but also as darkness and damage, as an unexpected messenger of death. The primacy of desire, the cult of feelings over reason and the importance of the world of the night, of omens and imagination, are the themes that are repeated in this book that is postulated as a new art at the same time. to love where play and grace are claimed, since, despite the pain that may await them, men and women are never more captivating than when they fall in love. In The Last Sunset, that essential dualism that makes order and feeling, life and death, light from darkness and light of day coexist in the human heart.
