El gabinete mágico
libro de las bibliotecas imaginarias
Pascual, Emilio
In this book of imaginary libraries, which cannot be finished because strictly speaking it would be endless, a few dozen have been collected that were scattered throughout the long and spacious field of letters. Ever since that time we entered Don Quixote's library to find out the reasons for his madness, and we found ourselves surprised by books that had little to do with those on chivalry, which in theory had turned his wits - poetry, songbooks, epics, pastoral novels-, books and libraries have populated the narratives that have made us live, die, perhaps dream... There have been books that only served as decoration and others that, like talismans, accompanied their owners in life and death ; liberating libraries, refuge for the unfortunate, and others, in merciless, disturbing hands of the human race; there have been fanatical librarians, but also shelter for the poor and comfort for the afflicted... There were books, there were libraries, first night. Those that seemed worthy of "happy remembrance" because of their charm, their strangeness, their sympathy, their capriciousness or simply their obviousness are in this book.
