Karmelo C. Iribarren knows that the substance of life always happens outside of the spotlights that illuminate the stage. And that the true function is celebrated in the fluttering of his poems, where we find the force that binds some days to others. The stage is a book of absences, and of a few -although non-negotiable- certainties. Iribarren's poems move, more than ever, on the margins of light, in the territory of shadows, in the cracks of whispers. Verses that build bridges between life and what, more and more, is moving away from it; verses that try to fight - and it is a useless fight - against the inevitable; verses that assume the end and the lost war in an increasingly unrecognizable world. But also verses where hope sprouts, always luminous; where love and joy, despite sorrows, are a cloak that covers everything, or almost everything; where tender and understanding humor makes the road less uphill.
