The Catalan language has evolved healthily for 900 years without the Institut d'Estudis Catalans or any academy, but today the attitude of linguists towards Catalan is often one of excessively rigid protectionism. Enric Gomà believes that you have to let the language develop and create. For this reason, it proposes (with arguments) the acceptance of live and expressive words and expressions such as 'enganxina', 'guixeta', 'cumbaià', 'xiruca', 'xarrup' (for sorbet), 'peta' (for joint). Popular forms such as 'àrbit', or expressions such as 'al·lucinar mandonguilles', 'bon vespre' or 'estar com un tren', which generate reluctance because they have no tradition. The calm Catalan is an optimistic pamphlet that pretends that language lovers do not create more anxiety in the speakers. A language that creates insecurity stops being spoken.
