El anticapitalista accidental
Díez Rodríguez, Fernando
We were anti-capitalists. We were young and anti-capitalist. Some in a militant way, since they were affiliated with parties of this observance, at least in the banner, the rhetoric and the paper program. Others without recognized militancy, but with a decided inclination to reject an economic system that they believed to be perverse and the cause of all kinds of evils. In both cases it seemed that capitalism did not have, or should not have, a future and that what we can call socialism or communism was about to fall, or almost. Years passed and we had to assume that anti-capitalism had deflated, had shown a very unpleasant face in its practical achievements, but very unpleasant, and finally had quickly evaporated. Today there is only a very residual residue of anti-capitalist groups that do not know how to tell the staff how to eat this. Some only mention it in a commemorative celebration, others display it, although we do not know what they mean by it. It seems like the vintage charm of an empty brand that no longer sells anything but, for a few, is still cool.
