De la sobriedad
Diadié Haïdara, Ismael
Life is the path that separates birth from death. In this way, all men seek happiness, but many are wrong without finding it. They look for it outside of themselves and believe that having multiple things, they end up being happy; they hunt hard for gold and silver, land and cattle; they are revealed to obtain fame, titles, multiple knowledge, in addition to wanting to obtain power in all its forms. But when they reach the yearned for, they realize that it does not give them happiness and they look for more and more, indefinitely, to end up having a lot and being unhappy despite everything. They do not see that poor is not the one who has less, but the one who needs infinitely more to be happy. Sobriety is a voluntary simplicity that leads to a new art of living in which being is privileged more than having, life for oneself rather than seeming.Sobriety is an invitation to live according to the precepts defended, among many others, by Epicurus, Gandhi, Pierre Rabhi or former President José Mujica. It leads to wanting what is natural and necessary to us, without further ado. Simplicity infinitely enriches our life, freeing ourselves from the constant accumulation of things and, thus, having more time for ourselves, for what really matters: living freely and serenely.
