Cuatro cuartetos

Cuatro cuartetos

precedido por La roca y Asesinato en la Catedral

Eliot, T. S.

When it seemed that his poetic work had concluded, TS Eliot surprised his readers with the publication, in 1935, of Burnt Norton, the first of the four poems that would make up Four Quartets, a work completed throughout the Second World War and that It supposes the overcoming of the desolation, at the same time intimate and collective, that he had described in The Waste Land (1922). East Coker, The Dry Salvages and Little Gidding delve into the meditation on time, love, reality, death and the search for God that Eliot had begun in Burnt Norton, turning the poetic sequence into a radical inquiry that, starting from its roots, manages to get rid of the biographical to rise to a higher stage. In order for the reader to get an idea of ??the path that led Eliot to the birth of this work, Andreu Jaume has also translated the choirs of The Rock and Murder in the Cathedral, two pieces for theater with which Eliot rehearsed his new poetic voice.
