Cavalcades
Orriols, Maria Dolors
It is an altarpiece of seven narratives with very diverse characters united by the prominence of horses, in a clear transposition towards humans: they feel, think and express themselves if it does not matter. In the line of medieval and modern bestiaries, the supposed exemplary character of the teachings of animals is left in the background and the pure narration, strength and drive of stories and language emerge. Despite being published in 1949 with great difficulty in the middle of a gray and desolate post-war panorama, and distributed in the basement among friends and acquaintances, Cavalcades did not go unnoticed and won the Concepción Ravell Prize for the best book of literary prose at the Games. Florals of Montevideo.
