Mosley, Walter
Although Leonid McGill works as a private detective in New York, much of his world revolves around the favors he owes and is owed. One of his outstanding debts is to a Mississippi hit man who once spared his life. Now he wants to collect it by asking him to help an old blues singer, who is over ninety years old and before he dies he wants to send a letter to a young heiress. The letter reveals that he runs black blood through the veins of the girl, whose wealthy family represents the most select values of traditional White America. There are a lot of people willing to do whatever it takes to keep such news from being made public, but Leonild loves dealing with these problems.
