Beowulf

Tolkien, J. R. R.

The translation of Beowulf by J.R.R. Tolkien, completed in 1926, will be a first treball of a very peculiar character. However, I counted elements that Tolkien would later serve in the six works of Terra Mitjana, with the dragon, which presages the Smaug of the Hobbit. From the attention that Tolkien pays to detail, it is clear the sense of the immediate and the clarity of his vision. It is as if you entered the passat imaginat, and went to the coast of Beowulf and his homes quan sacsegen the lines of mesh in securing the seva nau to the beach of the coast of Denmark, escorted the bewildering anger of Beowulf for the provocations d'Unferth, or look in surprise at the terrible mà de Grendel penjada of Heorot's sodre. This edition also included an extensive commentary by Christopher Tolkien on the conference notes that his parent is donating on the poem i Sellic Spell, a "wonderful count" written by Tolkien in which he suggested how there might be a popular count on Beowulf sense of connection with the "historical legends" of the northern regions.
