As iluminacións

As iluminacións

Rimbaud, Arthur

The territory of exploring the abyss won by Rimbaud for poetry is marked by two milestones: 1873 and 1886. In the first of those years Une saison en enfer came out. A shot with which Verlaine hit him in the hand had already sealed the definitive break between the two, and the author's mother paid the bill for a printing house in Brussels, which would send out five hundred copies. The other reference year, 1886, is that of the publication of Les Illuminations, also written at the time of the emotional roller coaster with Verlaine, who that time took charge of an edition of two hundred copies. Rimbaud, used to being expelled from the places he occupies ("as if they had hands", said Jacques Rivière), is in Harar at the time and his work does not get an immediate echo, because his is a soul alone in time, but it throws some seeds that, in the future, will bloom in the texts of his surrealist grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the Beat Generation. Angel and devil, he denies revolutionary and bourgeois values as equals, and posterity will be responsible for giving him new glows to the lightning bolts of his anger; now translated into Galician by Tamara Andrés and Oriana Méndez, with admiration and care.
