Crest hates the idea of spending a month on dry land, but every teenage mermaid has to experience it once in a lifetime. The rules are easy: help a human through a lunar cycle and then return to Pacifica to become a Sabie, or fail and be stuck in the world of disgusting and inconsiderate humans forever. Already in Los Angeles with an earthly body, Crest meets Sean, a lifeguard whose boyfriend has recently left him, and agrees to help him get it back. However, as they spend more time together, Crest begins to change his opinion about humans and... he'll literally feel on the fence.
