A música das palabras
de lingua e literatura (1990-2021)
Cabana, Darío Xohán
"To write, I listen to myself and the music of words, not the rules of grammarians." In "The music of words. Of language and literature, 1990-2021" Darío Xohán Cabana reflects, with rigor and excellence, on literature and language, sharing his knowledge and paying special attention to translation and poetry. They are short essays, in the form of articles and lectures, written between 1990 and 2021, in which he addresses the work of many of the most relevant authors of Galician literature, many of whom have maintained a close personal relationship with Darío: Celso Emilio, Manuel María , Xosé María Álvarez Blázquez, María Mariño, Novoneyra, Cunqueiro, Lois Pereiro, Xosé Miranda, Díaz Castro, Xosé Luís Méndez Ferrín..., as well as big names in universal literature such as Dumas, the Occitan troubadours and, now, Dante and Petrarca . Darío Xohán Cabana records in this volume a whole life dedicated to ennobling Galician culture and making its language and literature an essential heir. As an activist, as a poet, as a narrator, as a translator, Cabana's work always aims to highlight the quality and immensity of the language, taking it to any other time, culture and literature with its translations, with the urgent intention of enriching our language beyond which include dictionaries, because as he states in these pages, "every time a word dies, or is killed [...], then a small part of the language dies, and therefore a tiny part of the homeland also dies."
