Pregnancy, childbirth, childbirth, child care... these are all tasks traditionally assigned to women, some by force of biology, others by the fault of the organization of society. Therefore, it is not surprising that, in the fight for the emancipation of women, feminism has looked at motherhood with disdain or at least discomfort, as if it is a tool of the patriarchy, to keep women tied to eternal duties and dependencies. However, even if motherhood as an institution is a limit to women's autonomy, a hindrance to their development and an obstacle to their freedom, it cannot be denied that bringing a child into the world, with all its difficulties, pains and fatigues, is a completely beautiful and exciting experience for many women, or so that it could be and should be, at least, if the environment (society, community, laws) supports it. Erika Lagoma and Estixu Fernandez have conceived and implemented this book from feminism and motherhood, receiving thirteen testimonies, eleven mothers and two fathers each: partners and singles, heterosexuals and homosexuals, single mothers, adopters, those who have decided not to be mothers... The experiences and lives are varied. , many opinions and different worldviews; all rewarding and thought provoking. Many mothers will see themselves reflected in this or that story, and they will also feel that their perspective or experience is missing, because everyone has experienced motherhood in their own way. This book is for all of them, both for women who have not become mothers (by choice or not) and for men who feel sensitized to the issue, breaking inertia, inviting us to reconcile with ourselves and build a fairer and more livable world for all of us.
