El niño del callejón
Robles, Francisco
1963. A child is born and grows up in what will eventually become the last neighborhood patio in Seville: an unhealthy corrala, but also a decadent palace, where families are crowded together in conditions more typical of the 19th century than developmentalism of the second half of the XX. But at the same time, this singular residential model also generates a peculiar system of human relations, where privacy has a very different meaning and solitude is meaningless. Throughout the first eight years of the protagonist's life, the different tenants of the farm constitute a singular microcosm, and compose with their gossip and certainties, their fears and hopes, a choral story of evident autobiographical overtones that the child only observes, silent and absorbed.
