Zaha Hadid was born in Baghdad into an artistic and liberal family. In 1980, she founded her own architecture studio, Zaha Hadid Architects, in London. There she obtained great international recognition with works that defied the form of conventional buildings. She built the impossible, such as the London Aquatic Center, the Guangzhou Opera House or the Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center in Baku, Azerbaijan. Winner of multiple awards and accolades, including the Pritzer Prize, she is remembered today as a passionate feminist and a pioneering architect.
