Yuigon
Cruz, Rubén de la
The yuigon is the last poem written before proceeding to the Japanese self-immolation ceremony, called seppuku or harakiri. It is an intimate reflection and exposes the last will of the writer. This collection of poems is intended to reflect a last will regarding the end of a love relationship, the damage suffered and the responsibility to put an end to it. It is organized in three parts that create symbolic parallels between the lived relationship and the stages of the Japanese ritual [seiza, tanto and kaishaku]. The reason for the love experience is revealed.
