Yo me entiendo
Vega, Lope de
As almost always happens in Lope de Vega's comedies, I understand myself has as its theme love between young people. In a town in Florence, two sisters, Belisa and Florela, love the same young man, Carlos. He loves Belisa, but he accuses her of having awakened the love of Alejandro, the duke of the city, a man who only pursues her pleasure. Jealousy triggers the action of the play and a surprising ending. The attribution of this lost comedy to Lope de Vega has followed a tortuous path until finally Professor Donald McGrady, after a long research process that he attests to in his prologue, has managed to clear up doubts about his authorship. An indisputable philological discovery that adds to the list of recovered works by Lope and that represents a first-class celebration for Spanish letters.
