Víctor Ros y los secretos de ultramar
Tristante, Jerónimo
Madrid, 1885. María Fuster asks Víctor Ros to look for her husband, who has disappeared without a trace: he is Martin Roberts, an old friend of the policeman who now works for the Spanish secret service. Victor Ros will soon discover that Roberts's absence seems related to Giselda Albertos, an attractive and sensual Cuban variety artist. Together with his friend Alfredo Blázquez and his coachman Arístides, the inspector will travel to Havana, where he will frequent the company of international spies, double agents, North American businessmen, autonomists and insurgents, members of the Cuban sacrocracy and Spanish military. But Martin Roberts seems to have evaporated. And the main clue to his whereabouts may be in the most unexpected place: an exotic exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of New York, sponsored by the Havana Club and where the mummy of Pharaoh Khnumakht is exhibited. Inspector Víctor Ros returns to the crime scene with Overseas Secrets, a hectic adventure in the last years of colonial Cuba with the decline of the Spanish Empire in the background. In search of his friend, he will have to go deep into the Cuban jungle, the manigua, to meet old enemies and ghosts from the past.
