Two retired friends, Bonoso and Antonio, travel to the Holy Land, Turkey and Greece to investigate the origins of Christianity and, incidentally, observe the variety of the world, the peculiar customs of those lands and their gastronomy. From Mount Sinai, where Moses saw Yahweh in a burning bush, the pilgrimage in search of the truth will lead them to follow in the footsteps of Jesus and the dense history of those disputed lands in which religions, peoples and picturesque sects took root. During this long journey through the key places in the Scriptures, the two friends reflect on the veracity of the different biblical episodes, discuss universal concepts such as death or resurrection, and shed light on such burning issues as the conflict between Israel and Palestine.
