Unpublished texts recently discovered at the National Library in Paris by an expert on the work of Emil Cioran and written in the 1940s. Aphorisms, stark reflections on the sublime and abandonment that already outline the later obsessions of this unclassifiable thinker: art as a palliative in the face of the pain of existing, the search for redemption through writing, the nostalgia for lost paradises, praise and the refutation of the absolutes.
