Una vida aceptable

Shirley Perrigny is twenty-seven years old, Canadian, and lives as an expat in Paris. She has lost a husband, but has soon found another, Philippe, a most suitable and successful French journalist. Despised by Parisians and lectured by her fellow Canadians, she can't help but quote Jane Austen and Kingsley Amis in any situation that comes her way. In addition, she is an expert in using her myopia as a weapon of defense against the exhausting social aggressions that she seems to never stop suffering. Happily, as the bonds that she believed unalterable begin to disappear, her true personality comes to light, and who before was her victim now abandons her misfortune and from her emerges a radiant woman full of qualities. Spontaneous, funny and tragic at the same time, she discovers that she just might be able to become the unwitting heroine of her own story.
