Una rosa sola
Barbery, Muriel
Rose has just turned forty, when she receives a call from a notary asking her to travel to Tokyo to attend the reading of her father's will, whom she didn't actually get to know. For the first time in his life, then, he is in Japan, where Paul, his father's former assistant, who was an art dealer, is waiting for him. Amidst the bitterness, Paul encourages him to discover a strange cartography: a route, devised by his father, dotted with temples and gardens. As Rose delves into these landscapes and learns of her father's customs and friends -a poet, a charming old woman, a driver- she calms down and manages to confront her confiscated past.
