In a world ruled by the Martial Empire, rebellion is paid with death. Those who do not swear their blood and bodies to the Emperor risk the execution of their loved ones and the destruction of everything they hold dear. Laia lives in this brutal environment, inspired by ancient Rome, along with her grandparents and her older brother. The family barely survives in the poorest alleys, but without challenging the Empire, since they have seen what happens if someone opposes the system. But when Laia's brother is arrested for treason, she is forced to make a decision. In exchange for the help of the rebels who have promised to rescue her brother, she must risk her life and spy for them from the Empire's largest military academy. There she will meet Elias, the best soldier at the academy and, secretly, the most reluctant to fulfill her duty, because she only wants to be free from the tyranny in which he is being trained.
