Twelve-year-old Autumn Malog works at the fascinating Inglenook College, where young wizards study to become the king's future monster hunters. Along with her grandmother and her three older brothers (which is three more than she'd prefer), she acts as a beastkeeper and takes care of the Inglenook menagerie, which is full of terrifying monsters. But when she isn't shoveling mud out of the wyvern enclosure or coaxing the boggart to behave, Ella Autumn searches for clues about the mysterious disappearance of her twin brother. Everyone else believes that he was eaten by the dreaded Skinless Dragon, but Autumn is convinced that she has heard (and glimpsed) him calling her from within the castle walls. But who would believe an ordinary employee?
