In the twilight of the Spanish empire, when Manila and Madrid seem further away than ever, three women united by the ties of destiny seek a new purpose for their lives. Elba, after becoming a widow with her only daughter in a small village in Galicia, receives a letter that will force her to travel to the Spanish capital.
