Cadence Island and its inhabitants have always been held in a precarious balance. But now, Bane, the spirit of the north wind, has subjugated all who have crossed his path, in an attempt to gain control over both humans and spirits. In the East, a plague is spreading through the orchards, and it also affects the people of the Tamerlaine clan. As a healer, Sidra desperately searches for a cure; Her husband, Torin, the new clan leader, tries to get answers from the spirits. But humans have never been meant to walk among the elementals, and the further into his realm, the more he and the clan lose themselves. In the West, Adaira has a hard time adjusting to the aggressive lifestyle of the Breccans. Both the clan and the spirits suffer under the command of Bane, whose power is growing stronger. With the island on the verge of total imbalance, Jack decides to take up the harp and cross the clan line to not only reunite with Adaira, but also to unravel a sinister mystery that will give him the knowledge to defeat Bane and restore peace to Cadence.
