Umbrales de Antonio Machado
Baamonde, Miguel Ángel
The present work responds to an intention, impossible on the part of the author, to carry out a "great" biography -necessary on the other hand- of the great international poet that is Antonio Machado, with this openness to a whole life, not too long , of resounding successes and ways to follow to understand it in its entirety. If a careful search for his ancestors is added to this intentionality of detailing the facts and works, the work represents a beginning of insight both in his anecdote and in his work. Studies regarding his philosophy are still, so to speak, in diapers (the fact that with some intuitions he has anticipated Heidegger is sufficient guarantee to have him in any general treatise on this matter), as well as others perhaps of less depth but no less important: columnist, commitment to the society of his time in the face of a historical circumstance that was sinking into chaos, epistolographer as a whole and also separately -Unamuno, Juan Ramón, Ortega, perhaps the most important-, and that still not fully illuminated, a correspondence with the controversial Pilar de Valderrama. A whole world gathered in a single personality; hence what at first glance may seem like a huge work to study work by work, place by place and fact by fact, his permanent work in delving into the authentic values ??of our culture, regardless of the previous interpretations, all of them belonging to the nineteenth-century interpretations maintained until very recent dates.
