Trienio

Year 1822. The foundations on which absolute power is based in Spain are shaking. An unprecedented insurrection in Restoration Europe has put the absolutists' ability to react in check. The time has come to act. The liberal dream, made true in January 1820 by Rafael del Riego, has to be buried with arms. The war between royalists and liberals breaks out in different parts of Spain. In the epicenter of one of the war scenarios, between Catalonia, Valencia and Aragon, are our protagonists. The nobleman Álvaro de Monfort is determined to dislodge the liberals from power by scheming behind the scenes. In his mission he will receive the support of intrepid characters, such as Otto Langellotti, and he will collaborate with the royalist parties in the area, led by leaders such as José Rambla and Román Chambó. He also suffers setbacks, since the arrival of a new servant at his residence in Valencia, Manuel, will bring with it a whole series of misfortunes in his closest environment. Trienio is a choral novel in which events gather as the war of the so-called Liberal or Constitutional Triennium develops. In it, different views are interwoven, from liberals and absolutists, woven about a world in decomposition that will resist disappearing hand in hand with the realist movement, the prelude to Carlism. A long path of disagreements, revolutions, pronouncements and fratricidal wars begins that will uplift a divided and confronted 20th century, indebted to what was unleashed in those three intense and decisive years.
