Tomàquets verds fregits
Flagg, Fannie
Evelyn Couch is a middle-aged, middle-class woman who doesn't really know what to do with her life. Every week she docilely accompanies her husband to the nursing home where his mother lives, who does not even want to see her. On one of these visits he meets an old woman named Ninny, who is also in the same residence and who relieves Evelyn's expectations by telling her stories of her youth, in the 1920s, when she lived at Whistle Stop, a village of Alabama, with the wonderful Threadgoode family, who adopted her. But most of his memories revolve around two women, his daring and crazy sister-in-law Idgie, and his friend Ruth, who ran a small cafe at Whistle Stop Railroad Station, where he it offered an excellent barbecue accompanied by the fried green tomatoes that made them famous throughout the county.
