Todos los demonios
Roso, Luis
Summer 1960. A senior official in a German public institution is savagely assassinated in Madrid, and the Spanish government tries to prevent a diplomatic incident by assigning the investigation to one of the star police detectives: Inspector Ernesto Trevejo. Accompanied by a mysterious American teacher, Inspector Trevejo will trace the origin of a painting exhibited in a Zurich museum, which seems to be the key to the crime, and will unintentionally find himself wrapped in a spiral of blood and secrets around one of the darker aspects of the Franco regime: the fugitive Nazis refugees in Spanish territory since the end of the Second World War. With Todos los demons, Luis Roso establishes himself as one of the strongest values ??of the national crime novel and weaves a dizzying web of personal revenge, moral misery, economic interests, old hatreds and buried loves in which his incisive prose shines again, its irony, its precision and the exquisite care in the historical setting. And Trevejo also shines, that disbelieving, practical policeman, determined by his very particular code of ethics who, in that Madrid that tries to get on the train of modernity and in which expatriate Nazis, former "camisas viejas", careerists and members of the American secret services, still knows how to swim and put clothes away.
