Todas las crónicas
Lispector, Clarice
Since Machado de Assis, literature in Brazil has always had a fruitful tradition of great chroniclers, among whom of course the name of Clarice Lispector could not be absent, undoubtedly the most influential Brazilian writer of the 20th century. This volume, which brings together all of her already legendary collaborations in the Jornal do Brasil -written between 1967 and 1973-, also includes more than a hundred unpublished texts published in other newspapers and magazines, thus offering us a complete overview of the her work as a chronicler. In these texts, Lispector is shown to us in a double aspect: on the one hand, as the housewife faced with the most prosaic domestic problems -the administration of the family budget, the tureen to be returned, the chronic muteness of the telephone, the children's education-; but, at the same time, she also appears as an honest and close voice that speaks to us about love and death, about the passage of time, the unknowns of the "I" and the revolt against daily resignation. In short, an intimate and brilliant Clarice, capable of transforming everyday events into pure metaphysics, into authentic literature.
