In this essay, Peter Brook investigates the relationship between sound and scene. The book is organized in two parts, in the first the author gathers reflections on music and the act of listening. In the second, stories that account for his experience with music in theater and opera productions. In both, we have the feeling of listening to it rather than reading it. With a close language anecdotes and ideas are unraveled that, without didactic will, are interwoven in a tapestry of senses. And it is moving to see in all of them the persistence of an ethics turned into aesthetics.
