Tierra inestable
Costa Novel Award 2021
Fuller, Claire
Twins Jeanie and Julius are 51 years old and live with their mother, Dot, in an old house in the middle of the English countryside. Julius survives thanks to odd jobs; Jeanie can barely read or write. They do not have internet, television or bank accounts. Neither of them has a partner. They also have no father: he died when they were children. They grow vegetables in their garden and, when night falls, they play their instruments and sing together. They survive on little and don't need more: their home is both their armor against the world and their sanctuary. But when Dot suddenly dies, all the things they've always done without become indispensable. Jeanie and Julius are faced with an unknown and vast world, and when Dot's secrets begin to come to light, everything they thought they knew about their lives falls apart.
